This is a special message that first appeared on Search Engine Land, about our first conference Search Marketing Expo Advanced, which is being programmed and hosted by the Search Engine Land staff. It happens in Seattle this June 4th and 5th.

As the date approaches, I’ve had some people ask me for more about what’s different or unique with this show compared to other search conferences. Happy to indulge!

SMX Advanced Agenda Now Available

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

The full agenda for SMX Advanced Seattle 2007 is now available. As a reminder, the show happens this June 4 and 5. You can register here. Be aware that the price increases to $1,195 as of April 2. So don’t leave getting your ticket too late! You’ll save by registering early, plus there’s a limited number of spaces. When the tickets are gone, they’re gone. Some highlights from the agenda, covering networking opportunities, summits, debates and sessions offering tips:

  • Networking: We have three different networking events. SMX Bash before the show starts open to all attendees (expo-only and full-pass holders), the networking reception at the end of the first day is also open to everyone, then SMX At Night in the evening of the first day will be open to full-pass attendees. More news about SMX At Night will be posted shortly.
  • Summits: Because we have an experienced audience coming, I’ve got several sessions focused on search issues where the audience can be involved in pushing for changes. We’ll cover duplicate content, penalties and paid search wish lists. On the conference home page, you’ll see this line: “Be a leader by being among the leaders in the industry at this show.” That’s what the summits are especially about, a way for leaders in the space to help shape and influence future directions.
  • Debates: Similar to the summits, debates are a way I hope leaders can influence the industry. We’re got two, one about SEO, the other on paid search. It’s going to be a real debate, too — with teams, statements, responses and then the audience getting in on the action at the end.
  • Tips & Tactics: One of the biggest challenges in doing the agenda is figuring out topics that will appear to pros. I’ve tried to focus on areas that even pros might be neglecting or wondering about: social media, personalized search, tricky issues in paid search and overlooked paid search opportunities. The “Give It Up” session also challenges top search marketers to share some of their most closely guarded tips.

Interested in speaking? Read this.

I’m going to be contacting people on a short list this week through March 26. Then any remaining openings, I’ll post those either late on March 26 or on March 27 on this page.

Thanks also to our premier sponsors: Bruce Clay, Inc., Marchex, Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, Google and Yahoo!, along with those signed-up to exhibit so far: iProspect, The Karcher Group, SearchRev and Acquisio. Want to sponsor or exhibit? The premier spots have sold out, but we have other opportunities as well as exhibiting space. More info on that can be found here.

How To Speak At SMX Advanced 2007

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Want to speak at our SMX Advanced event in Seattle this coming June 4th and 5th? Here’s the scoop!

I accepted pitches for session ideas from March 5 through March 9. From that, an agenda was created, and I invited some of those pitching ideas to be on sessions. Then after the agenda came out, I listed openings for further pitches. That period has now closed.

If I haven’t been in touch about speaking by April 7, you weren’t accepted, sorry. I wish I could tell everyone personally they weren’t accepted. Unfortunately, I get too many pitches to make this possible. I also wish I could accept everyone to speak. I do! But that’s also not possible.

If I have any late breaking openings happen, they’ll show up on this page.
